Hi Jahir, sorry I have been out of town for the past few days.
As I mentioned in my second post, the problem with the tour (actually a single panorama shot in my case) not opening was solved as soon as I started serving the entire website over HTTPS, didn’t think it was a requirement but thankfully it was quite simple to set up.
…Of course then I found plenty of instances where the pages were still serving some unsecured content, but in the end I think I got everything up and running just fine.

– Just a quick update re: question number 1:
I’m setting up the website to use HTTPS and that seems to make quite a difference. I still have some unrelated mixed content issues to resolve, but serving the tour over HTTPS apparently fixed the display problem in Chrome for me.
