In reply to: Amazon Associate LinkingYou don’t necessarily have to, but you can create a folder within the same domain/subdomain where WP is installed. And you can then FTP-upload graphic files into that folder.
>make it a link to another website when you click it?
That’s only the matter of how to write HTML. That is, you will just need to designate the source of the file and hyperlink, using HTML, when you write a blog article.

In reply to: Hosting Question – MacWordPress is blog software. It’ll let you write an online diary. After installing WP, all you do is access your blog with an Internet browser to write articles. Of course, you can embed graphics, though.
Building a website is a totally different story. Basically, create a folder and build a website inside it. There are popular web applications like Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe GoLive and MS FrontPage (Windows only) that will let you write HTML with ease. You can review it with a web browser. When finished, upload all files and folders into your server through FTP.
You don’t have to touch your MySQL databases.

In reply to: Hosting Question – Mac>Should I select Linux hosting
Yes. Linux is a very common OS for servers. Windows OS is way more common than Mac OS. Some people use Windows servers so that they can use FrontPage extensions. There is no point of your getting Mac OS server unless you need to run Mac applications online.
>Shared plan be sufficient to run a review blog?
Yes.
In case you need to know, we do use Mac OS, and our shared server uses Linux.

In reply to: Widget stealing your Amazon revenue…>Are there any Amazon plug-ins that,
1. Work?
2. Don’t steal sales? That depends on where you want to display your ad. If you want to display ads at space between header and content or on the sidebar, you don’t need a plug-in. On the other hand, if you want to use an ad code such that the same ad will appear within individual articles, then you need a plug-in. Adman is one of them. I don’t know if it has any deceptive functions that users are not aware of. I certainly don’t want to accuse its developer of any wrongdoing, but there are reasons why some software titles are free.
By the way, if any of you use an ad company called Blue Advertise, beware of it. They will display free ads from Ad Council and others and will pay you because they secretly bring a circle of friends.
It’s no offense, but the best way to install WP that I imagine is to upload the WP zip file with File Manager and decompress it with File Manager. The File Manager that comes with control panel usually lets you pack and unpack zip files. It should take us only a few seconds to unpack the WP zip file with File Manager. Otherwise, it will take more than several minutes to upload all the files due to a large number.

In reply to: Embedding Code from Voxant (the newsroom)We didn’t have trouble embeding the code when we didn’t in September. An example is shown at http://machouse.mhvt.net/?p=847 . I don’t see anything wrong in the code that fundamentallysound provided except… Try placing <!–more–> after writing a head message for an individual article.

In reply to: Make a mirror site>I think this solution will require large amount of work
I don’t see that. When you do it once, that will be it.
>I am thinking whether there is anything that could perform this task of importing articles automatically
That’s the solution I’m suggesting.

I suppose so. A username is also a password in a sense if they can’t guess it.
