    Ah ha! That seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the link. I’m embarrassed to say that I do recall seeing that posting in the past – I just didn’t re-find it when I needed it. Anyway – we have a developing pattern here with php7.0 installations. Might be worth putting in your KB?

    I host my own installation on an AWS Ubuntu 16 image and I have followed best practice for the OS design and WP install. It is possible that there is a permissions issue or similar but I’d need your help to narrow that down. Is there any other logging or debugging we can perform?

    Hi Benbodhi. Apologies for the slow response. I had to find time to re-install the default theme etc. I have now re-activated the twentyseventeen theme and de-activated all plugins. When I have no plugins activated I can browse the Media, Library in tile/thumbnail mode, no problem. As soon as I activate the SVG Support plugin (when it is the only plugin activated) I can no longer browse the Media, Library page in thumbnail mode. It behaves as though it is unable to process the svg files. For example if I enter a search term for a non-svg file, that file shows up fine in thumbnail mode. But any time there is an svg file in the the list of files it is trying to render thumbnails for – nothing at all gets rendered (just a blank section and the spinner keeps spinning).

    I enabled WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG but I don’t see any /wp-content/debug.log file, or any on-screen error messages, after I restart php and return to the Media, Library screen (which sits there spinning).

    My impression is that the SVG Support plugin is the only contributor to this behaviour therefore. Is there any other debug I can try to collect for you, or any work-arounds you can suggest?

    Thanks for the reply Benbodhi. I will test that in the next couple of days and let you know the outcome. Is there a particular log file I can look at also?
