Yes, I did turn off all the plugins, select theme Twenty Twelve, and try to enter data. The behavior was unchanged.

It wasn’t what I wanted to hear, but it is very helpful to know one way or the other!
I am sad because your plugin stands out as more than just a one-trick pony.
