In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Internal Server errors with WP 4.7.1Hmmm, just went into the site to do a ‘duplicator’ backup of the site and it looks as though there is still some sort of conflict going on. It gives me the ‘-500 internal server error’ every time I try to create a new backup.
Any ideas how to fix this other than deactivating the ‘the events calendar’, backing up and then activating it again? Sort of defeats the purpose of the backup really if the site isn’t fully intact.
BTW everything is up to date except ‘the events calendar’. I wanted to try to do the backup before I updated to 4.5.6 (call me a scaredy cat, but after the last episode I just wanted to be safe rather than sorry).

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Internal Server errors with WP 4.7.1I didn’t have to change the memory limit (well not yet anyway). I just removed the plugin from the plugins folder in cPanel, went back into the site, then put it back into the plugins folder in cPanel and went back to the site in order to activate it. When I got there, there was an update, so I updated and, voila, it works. Thank you to whoever did the update!

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Internal Server errors with WP 4.7.1I really must be blind… I cannot see where to start a new topic (that really doesn’t matter). I hope I have less trouble inserting the code you suggested. I do have a question though, do I need to be working on a child theme to be to change the memory limit? Thanks for your help, by the way.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Internal Server errors with WP 4.7.1Thanks for that, I will try increasing the memory. Thanks for the directions to find the new topic (I shall look for that now). Cheers Lynandrog.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Internal Server errors with WP 4.7.1For the life of me I can’t work out how to start a new forum topic. Can anyone tell me where I find the “add new” button?
For the moment I will post my problem here, because it is definitely the same problem just with a different version of wordpress (4.7.5) and probably a different theme (Pinboard). So here goes…
I have built a website for the non-profit organisation ’The Hunter Regional Band Association’ (so unfortunately am only using the free version of the events calendar, but hope you can still help me sort out a problem I have encountered). I also manage the site for them adding new information as necessary, which mainly consists of upcoming performances and competition dates in ‘the events calendar’ and a few photos.
I have been very happy with the functionality of ‘the events calendar’ and wish to keep using it, but when I went into the site last week to update some information, I encountered a problem, which I have been unable to fix. The site is oscillating from having ‘the events calendar’ activated and deactivated just to enable me to access the site. I am about to deactivate ‘the events calendar’ from the site again and load another calendar, but it does not offer the features I need and would prefer to get the problem sorted out so I can go back to using ‘the events calendar’ as I was previously.
I am obviously not the only person with this problem by the looks of this forum.
I will give you the website URL, so you can see if there is anything stupid I have done… hrba.org.au (just be aware that the site loads whether ‘the events calendar’ is activated or not, I just can’t access the back end of the site through wordpress if it is activated and until I go in and delete it from the plugins in cPanel I have no access — quite frankly this is a pain).
What the site is supposed to do when ‘the events calendar’ is activated is display Upcoming Events (as per entries into ‘the events calendar’) at the top of the widget on the right hand side of most pages. There is usually also a Calendar page that displays on the page under the dropdown News and Events (I also seem to be having trouble loading any other month than the current one, so that may be another problem or related, not sure yet).
What seems to be the problem is that I am getting an internal server error when I activate ‘the events calendar’, which leaves me unable to access the site via wordpress. However, that is somewhat random, by occasionally logging me out of the site and not letting me log back in without going into cPanel and deleting the plugin (which is what is happening at the moment, but it has let me in and allowed me to deactivate the plugin on at least one occasion, not sure why).
I have deduced that it must be ‘the events calendar’, quite accidentally, by deleting all of the plugins (by accessing them in cPanel) and reloading them one by one. I did this a couple of times and eventually decided, by a process of elimination, that it was ‘the events calendar’ causing the problem. However, I can’t work out how to fix it.
I might also add that the problem only only became evident after I upgraded a few plugins (including ‘the events calendar’) last week. I noticed that there were a number of updates required, including a WordPress update (although, I resisted upgrading to 4.8, because I noticed a few of the plugins were only saying they were compatible with the 4.7 version I was currently using). I have been nervous about doing any more upgrades and am not sure if updating wordpress to 4.8 will rectify my problem. Sadly, by the looks of this forum and the plethora of other complaints about similar sounding errors, I seriously doubt it will fix it.
I really hope someone can help me (and maybe tell me how the hell I start a new forum topic of my very own).
Cheers
