I finally decided to try the API key. I didn’t think that would be the problem, but it was! So I got the API key and things worked from there. Thanks for the help and for others contributions as well.

I also am having this problem. The theme typography shows the font controls I created. But there is no response to changes in any of the controls in the customizer. The default typography works fine. I have tried to add a . dot before the CSS selector and without. No difference. The site is macbanking.com. I have read contradictions over whether I need an api key or not. Help!
