Thank you for the tip. Boy that sure would have been the easy way to go before I had deleted the old blog, huh? I din’t (big DUH) know that you could simply export the files into this format. So the question is, do these files exist somewhere in my contect folder that I can access in phpmyadmin somehow? Please let me know. Thanks!

Okie Dokie…anyone still want to play this fun game? Here’s what I’ve done, and I’m feeling hopefull.
    1. I created a backup of my database on yahoo, and a backup of the wp-content, includes, and admin on my local drive.
2 I deleted the previous blog entirely…gone gone
    3. I created a new blog account for http://www.thefreshride.com
    4. I upgraded WP to 2.7.1 (because yahoo installs an old version). following all the regular instructions. Instead of keeping the wp-content file in place as usual, I deleted it entirely, and replaced with my previous wp-content file.
    5. So now? The website exists. It posts as http://www.thefreshride.com (like I wanted) but the posts, pictures, pages etc (none of the content) is showing up. I’d bet this is a really easy fix. Can anyone help?

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

So I called Yahoo to get help with my index page problem. They recommended simply setting up a new blog, and then moving my content to the new blog. I did this, moved my files, and it’s just complete train wreck at this point. I’m wondering if there’s anyone out there who can take this into their own hands and fix for $. I am a business owner, who’s spent 30 hours on this over the past 3 days and come up with nothing. I’m feeling in over my head. Help.

Thanks for the help! I’ve tried to logon to My PHPadmin, and the password error I get is #1045 – Access denied for user ‘Lizzy’@’localhost’ (using password: YES). I’ve reset my password on the Yahoo for it, but it still doesn’t work. Before I get knee deep in trying to solve this new issue, is it really necessary to do another backup? I have a good backup from 4/11. Please let me know. Thanks so much (trying not to puke or cry at this point)

OH boy. This is a disaster. I moved everything to the root, and it didn’t fix the problem of /blog. so then I moved everything back to the blog folder. Then, the blog would show up again under http://www.thefreshride.com/blog. I had to change the urls both back to /blog. But then a new problem…..To make matters worse, somehow I deleted (I”m guessing) the index.html file from the Yahoo file manager, and now even though I restored, and put everything back to the way it was the website won’t display. I feel super defeated, and feel like I’m just spinning my wheels. Is there a way to reload WordPress from yahoo, and then get all my posts…or something to that effect? I just feel like I completely need to start over!

    2 more things I forgot
    1. I can’t locat the .htaccess file per the instructions. How do I find that?
    2. Do i need to deleted the index.php file from the “blog” folder now that its at the root?

    I followed the directions on the Giving WP its own directory. Since I basically already had it’s own directory called “blog”, then I didn’t do anything new there. ALL the WP files are within “blog”.I changed the URL for the blog address to http://thefreshride.com in the genaral tab and changed the index file as instructed to include the new location like this: require(‘.blog/wp-blog-header.php’);
So now: http://www.thefreshride.com still doesn’t work
    http://www.thefreshride.com/blog says file not found.
    1. I wonder what “core” wp files means. Is that just the 3 main admin/content/includes files? Should all the other files be up one level?
    Thanks again for the help.

    Hi, Thanks for your help!
Yes, WordPress is installed in a subdirectory called blog (the only thing above it is my main Yahoo User directory). It has always been there, and yes, that’s where WordPress is installed as usual.

In General settings page, both say http://www.thefreshride.com/blog. I removed the /blog from the Blog address yesterday, and the whole blog went mia. Luckily, i did a restore and everything was back to normal.

When you say check the permalink settings, and check your wp-config.php at htaccess files. What should I be checking for?

Let me know what you think is the best next step. Thanks!!
