Can anyone help me with this?

The only way I could figure out how to use chitika is to use the plug in they provide on their site. It works, because apparently after doing other research there is NO option to allow javascript in individual posts anywhere in wordpress. You are basically forced to use a plug-in.

Secondly, I would still like to learn how to put amazon in a post which apparently you CAN DO but it sure does screw up the whole page.

Additionally, since I was having so much trouble with amazon I just tried to put chitika ads in a post and their code did not damage the page or site layout, but nothing at all appeared. Now I have read a vague reference online that you cannot you javascript inside of an individual wordpress post? Is this true? If so, how do I adjust it so I can?

Let me get this strait so I can know exactly what to do. I go into the regular wysiwyg editor and post the code, then go into the html editor and put divs around the code, and then post it? I will go try that now!

First of all, a BIG thank you to SwtRose’s husband! Thank you very, very much! And thanks to SwtRose for asking him about this.

But I do have a question. Is wordpress making those changes when you post the data into the html box and not just the regular text editing box in the “write post” tab? Is there a way to make sure that wordpress posts the correct html so I can insert the code manually without using a plug in?

Does anyone on here know how to manually insert the code into wordpress? I am just curious. I am going to check out the plug-in’s right now.

Right now, I just want to use amazon inside of individual posts.

Thank you very much for your willingness to help. The wierd thing is that the ads I have chose were very small and obviously were not too large for the center column. By the way, my blog is http://www.technobunga.com but I hate to put the ad back in there because it literally sends all my columns all over the place. I am waiting to have google to add the page their database so I would hate for it to look absolutely horrible….

I really am very confused at this point. Could you try a test on any of your blogs to see if you can grab the amazon generated code, plug it into the html in the “write-post” section of wordpress, upload a post, and see what happens? I don’t know what exactly is happening at this point.

Basically, I want to use a plug-in eventually. But right now I want to learn how to put in the code manually both to learn how the code and inserting process works and of course to make sure it is working before I start installing a plug-in.

Do you know what might be actually going wrong here? The following is the exact process I did.

I go to amazon.com and generate an ad/link/image code that I want to put in a post. It generates the code and I copy it. Then I go to wordpress and go to “write post” and paste that exact same code into the html of the post. When I upload the post it causes the whole page to go crazy.

David, am I doing anything wrong? Should it actually be working the way I am doing this? Please help me out here if you can. I want to use a plug in eventually, but I need to figure this out first.

Is it even possible to put in a amazon link/ad/image (whatever you want to call it) into a post by the method I am trying?

Now, what does turning their &’s into &amps mean? What happens if you don’t do that?

Additionally, how do you put their links into your posts? Do you just copy and paste the link into the html part of the post you are writing in wordpress?

I am really confused now, and this is frustrating. 🙁
