In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellThanks Jackie,
Yes they fixed something for me, it wasn’t under the “httpdocs” root folder. A custom option through me off. I tried setting it up through the configuration screen and then it had issues connecting to the database that I created.
I just deleted it all from the server and started again installing from Plesk so it automated the creation of the database and I could access it with no problems. I am testing it all out now!
Thank you again so much. I’ll let you know if this works π
Sorry I didn’t hit “send” yesterday on this message.

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellThis doesn’t look to be like a wordpress issue, I am uploading files direct to my FTP to test them out. On another domain that I have as well. It isn’t working to view via the URL in a browser even though it shows that the file is there.
Thanks for your help this far. I just didn’t want you to spend time when it may be something that isn’t working on our servers end. I will try to figure this out and get back to you.
Thank you so much for your time and patience.

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellI created a mysql database and user. The next step is to:
“You will be now asked for the privileges you want to allow this user. Select all privileges and click on the Make changes button.
Your MySQL database and user are now ready, and it is time to run the WordPress install.
Simply go to to the URL where you uploaded WordPress. If it is in the main domain, then enter your domain name in the browser window, like yoursite.com or http://www.yoursite.com.
You will see the language selection page. You can choose a language here so that rest of the installation is displayed in your own language. You can also use English for now and then later change the language.”
I uploaded the wordpress folder, see it on the server. When I go to galico.international or galico.international/wordpress I get the 404 screen. Nothing happens.
Do you think there is a problem because I don’t have a “.com” and an “.international” one instead?

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellI have Windows 8.1 pro – I was accessing ftp://galico.international:225 via the regular windows file explorer.
So I downloaded File Zilla. I downloaded the latest version of WordPress.
I am trying to follow these steps:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/how-to-install-wordpress/#installftp
I am hung up on where to install it in the root folder. The only options I have are the folders:
..
error_docs
httpdocs
logs
wordpress (I just threw it here, my idea is that I want people putting my url in and going directly to the site, galic.international)The next step is databases:
“Once you are done uploading WordPress, go to your hosting control panel to create a database. We are using cPanel web hosting, so our screenshots will be of cPanel. In your cPanel, find the icon like this”

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellOh ok, my apologies. That’s a little beyond my scope. I will try and see how I can make this work. I am just going to start from scratch and install it using FTP, see if that makes a difference.

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellThanks Jackie,
I know and have my FTP credentials. Was just wondering if I would access the admin interface through Plesk or a different avenue. I will uninstall and reinstall. I will try looking for the SSH.
Thanks again!

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellHi Jackie,
The IT support still hasn’t gotten back to me. I am thinking of youtubing how to install wordpress via FTP to try that way. Do you know how I would access the back end to customize the site? Would it be through wordpress.org? If so, what username and password would I use? My FTP login?

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellHi Jackie,
I apologize but I don’t know what SSH is vs. FTP. I installed WP via the Parellels/Pesk. Then I’ll go into Plesk and access the WP administrative interface from there. I am still waiting to hear back from the IT guy with our hosting about permissions. I tried to google SSH and understand what it was. I am sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.
but I access that through my hosting’s back end when I log in.
Thank you again for your time!

In reply to: Changes not saving/publishing, media uploaded disappears as wellThank you Jackie! Your help is much appreciated.
So currently I installed the Word Press platform on galico.international/home
I installed through the app feature in Plesk. I didn’t upload it FTP style.
Eventually I would like it just on galico.international or I’ll redirect it there.
I spoke with my father (who handles the hosting) to see if there were permission issues that needed to be overridden or enabled. Do you mind elaborating on how I check ownership? I apologize, it’s been such a while since I’ve done any of this.
The theme that is up there now, is not what I would like to use. I was activating different ones to duplicate the issue. I just gave up by the time I reached that one.
Thank you once again!
