Yes, disabling parameter forwarding will work for the time being.

As you pointed out, there are scenarios where we need to maintain our own parameters while stripping off any that have been appended by third-parties, such as Facebook.

Having the option to exclude specific parameters would be a welcome feature. In fact, an option to specify which parameter to “include” may be a better solution, since we would define our own parameters, while others are unknown until discovered after the fact.
