    Anyone?

    Hello,

    I have sorted this issue.

The domain name stayed the same, and the .htaccess/wp-config.php was intact.

All I had to do was repair the mysql database in cpanel and everything worked!!

Maybe not a true secure solution, but what I did was just uploaded the old wp-admin/ms-users.php file and directly call it in the browser, You get the search option back to how it was before, but you will need to go to the address manually each time that you want to do a search.

You’ll also need to upload the old wp-admin/ms-edit.php, as it calls onto this if you edit/change anything

Then go BLOCK THEM in the moderation list. Save yourself some work, you;re doing this the long way around.

i DO block the domains in the moderation list, I just had to search for domains again when a new domain gets added with loads of spam blogs, hence why I have to do another user search, and they’re not always on the very last page.

    Did the search change? Yes.
    Is it different? Yep
Does it still work? Yes, but differently than you are used to.

No it doesn’t work – not in the way that I preferred/wanted it to work in the past

the point is – rather than downgrading (which you can do) I’m suggesting you fix the other issue. You won’t *have to* keep searching like that if you were blocking them properly in the first place.

As mentioned before, I do add domains to the blocked domains list, but when new domain have come through the net, they are added as I go along.

Also, you can zip to the end of the list without searching.

Yes, fair enough you can, but I want to use the search to bring up all the same signup email domain so that i can do the click all, and mark as spam – simples.

(Yes, I run my own networks. I rarely have to search for spam signup and when I do, I don;t do it like that.)

Whats your secret to a no spam signup, everything I have tried has slipped throuh the net and spam signups still exists. yesterday alone, I got 100 spam signups!!

This is not good, particles worked before and dealt with the situation fine for me!

How can I change this back??!

it was really handy when I had loads of signups from the same spammy domain to find them all in a search to group them, and then mark as spam!!

If i had known the search function had changed in 3.1, I wouldn’t have bothered upgrading!!

Andrea – I’ve totally deleted everything (including the hosting account) and started with a new database, so currently got no users, however I am forcing any genuine users to contact me for manual setup as I am keeping signups disabled for a while to ensure that bots aren’t bypassing anything.

I don’t think I have any other plugins installed, like bbpress or budypress – how would I check this? All i have in the plugins directory is askmet and hello dolly.

Ipstenu – I do not allow site admins to add users,

However, having said this, i had tried to delete a few spam users, and ended up corrupting the mysql database. (argh!)

With no SQL backup (even though the site is backed up!) I have no option but to start from new.

CSD_Images – I don’t think I had been hacked/back door! however, as ive now started from anew, I will see!

    Okay,

Now there is something really strange going on here:

I have REMOVED wp-signup.php with a static page explaining that signups has been dissabled.

I’ve just had a new blog created! – How is this possible without the wp-signup.php code there?!

Sorry Andrea, I’ve been working on multiforums all day before posting about this, but of course I do mean blogs!!

I find it shocking that capachas won’t work, but i’ve also read on google that there is a vunebility in wp-signup.php which allows bots to bypass this!!

I will give the method Ipstenu suggested a try, and if this fails, I will unfortunately have to do some sort of manual setup, of which I know will be time consuming!

    Bah!

I hate to bump this but does anyone have an idea?

Ah, i feel like such an idiot, I didn’t think for a moment that being logged in as super admin would still show the site – Logged out and i just get an “This site has been archived or suspended.” message.

Do we know what I would have to edit to change that to fit my blog site template?

    Thanks 🙂

    by the way:

At the moment if I mark a blog as SPAM or disactivate it, you can still visit it at the blogname.domain.com address.

I’d like to be able to set spam flagged blogs to a custom this blog, “blog.domain.com” has been disabled due to spam etc etc page

    Can this be done?

(sorry for double post, just noticed the edit button!)

I don’t understand that plugin – I cannot seem to find out where I have to setup/enable just to add a sidebar of my links to the right of the wp-signup.php script…

    (@letsserveit)

That plugin appears to be only for login screens, and not for wp-signup.php for the Networks plugin, correct me if I am wrong though?..
