In reply to: [Leverage Browser Caching Ninjas] Error applying settingsI have this same problem – I’m assuming you activate this by going to the icon on the left hand side of the WP panel and then ticking the enable box?
However I have no idea what ‘I think you need your .htaccess file permission to be 0644 for this to not happen’ means!!!
Can you help please?

In reply to: Broken header widgetThanks lopwalj
That worked – can see the logic but not sure why it worked before!

In reply to: Membership siteHi Ross
Thanks for your response – looks really complicated and quite beyond me!
I don’t actually need members to take a test, just tick to confirm that they’ve completed the module.
Wishlist seems to do 80% of what I’m looking for and they have a plugin for a checklist.
So I think I’ll give that a go.

In reply to: Brute Force AttackThanks for the suggestion about iThemes – looks really good.
Thanks for the link Tara – I have a very strong password and a non-admin user name so hopefully am safe from attacks!
I may be naive but i really can’t understand what these hackers get out of this. Don’t they have a life?
So simple!
Thank you.
Ooops – just realised I’ve received the back ups on a completely different email address!
So where does it get the email address from for the back ups?

In reply to: Brute Force AttackThanks again.
I am now installing iThemes Security on all my websites!
Out of interest, do you know if this replaces Akismet for comment spam? It seems too but wanted to make sure before switching Akismet off.

I currently have Sucuri Security – that’s where I’m getting the emails about the failed logons.Do you know if this is as good as iThemes Security?

In reply to: Reducing whitespace between widgetsGreat – thank you.
Definitely reduced the space.
I thought there were a lot of spans (I copied this from someone else) but couldn’t work out whether they were doing any harm or not so thought I’d leave them!!

In reply to: Reducing whitespace between widgetsHi Janet
Yes – this did reduce it but the top widgets still have a lot of space between them.
This is my widget code:
<p style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-size:18px;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://www.thefriendlyaccountants.co.uk/friendly-prices/" title="Get an instant quote!"><span style="color:#FF8C00;">Get an instant quote!</span></a></span></span>Is there something in there causing the problem?

In reply to: Reducing whitespace between widgetsHi Janet
I’ve copied that code to the bottom of my child theme style.css file but still no difference?

In reply to: Reducing whitespace between widgetsJanet/Dave
I’ve tried adding both your code at the bottom of my style.css with no success. Am I putting it in the wrong place?
Red Deer
I think that’s in my parent rather than my child style.css. When I change it in the parent it doesn’t make any difference.
Am I being very stupid and not understanding the help you’re all giving?
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Reducing whitespace between widgetsFrom what I can see, I think my theme is already a child theme. It’s got the word ‘child’ in the name in the directory.
