Before I modified the main theme’s footer.php, but updating the theme did overwrite the changes I made.
Now your method works for me.
However, Is there anyway I can add email address and contact number into that right space of the footer?

I suggest that you should follow the Theme Document to alter your webpages first, then once you are familiar with the theme, you can edit or change anything due to your needs.
