hey guys, i had a similar problem and looked through some past forums, particularly this one:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-nextgen-gallery-slideshow-broken?replies=7for me, when i upgraded the nextgen gallery it deleted the imagerotator.swf. so when i reuploaded this file and made sure the path was correct under options, it worked fine.
