On a client’s site hosted on GoDaddy, I had no problems with the 1.2.2 version of the Mailchimp plugin when it was hosted on Windows. Switched to Linux last night and got this same parse error. Downgraded to 1.2.1 and it works just fine again. This post saved me tearing my hear out. Thanks!
