I’m doing a site for a friend, and initially until she organised hosting, I’ve been doing it on wordpress.com where, of course, there are no issues of this kind. I think perhaps I had better create a test area and get it over here PDQ. Currently, theres nothing in the real site, at all.
I, too, need to get the media upload issue sorted.

In reply to: WordPress 4.0 bug – is there a fix for thisDid you read Randy’s suggestion? It may be your theme, switch to 2014 and see if the problem still exists.
Another suggestion may be (if your site was hacked) to export it (posts, images and comments) then delete the current wp install, install it again, and import the content. That ought to clear any hacks or cruft left behind after an upgrade.
Fingers crossed for you. Mine was an old issue, which never surfaced before (i think) version 3.2. for me, its a completely clean install on a new site, and the media upload is still flaky.

I’ve just posted in my old thread, the issue is continuing (workaround is working for me). The general consensus is that its the host, but I’m just not sure, because at one point I installed a much older WP version and it was fine.

Fortunately thumbnails aren’t going to be required at all, as the pages generally will be static, and I’m working on them at wordpress.com first, and will export/import to the “real” URL when completed.
Wish I had remembered, but no worries, will get it sorted once more.

Yeah. I keep trying to leave facebook, I don’t post much, and then I thought, why not share what I blog, might even get an audience. Ha! Still havent decided what the image will be but might put a sidebar image if FB pulls from there, I keep switching themes and having to change functions.php every time I do, is going to get very old very quickly.

Good lord. Why??? I often share stuff where there is no image, and the header and short text simply moves left… I think it would be nice to have an option to include an image or not.
You can set your own fallback by uploading an image to your site (at least 200×200)

Its local, and its associated with a large hosting company here in australia. We don’t do without. Perhaps Bazza will be able to find out more, but for me, the fact that nothing is actually disabled in my phpinfo output suggests other issues which are not immediately obvious.

In reply to: Images in 3.9 appear to fail to uploadJust tried doing an unattached upload to the media directory, with that box checked, and got the following error… Its very confusing.
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@suewotton.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
This error turns up when the script attempts to access media-new.php in the admin section.
Since there are no errors which make any sense at all in my cpanel log, I’m assuming the error goes deeper than that… I’m not that unhappy with how things are working without having square thumbnails… for now, anyway

In reply to: Images in 3.9 appear to fail to uploadOh really?? I was told WP doesn’t use imagemagik. On Zuver, we do not have access to it. I don’t know why. I’ll send a ticket to the host, too.
[edit] On a second check of phpinfo… i find that imagemagik *is* active (it wasnt, last time I looked which is what prompted me to check how its used with WP, only to see that it wasnt.) Now I have no clue.

In reply to: Images added to Library but not showing in library window in PostI find it really interesting that there is such a huge number of solutions to this single problem. Whats WPML?? (Clearly I don’t run it, or custom fields). Another solution which worked for some people was changing permissions to 777 on the uploads directory in /wp_content. Did nothing for me.
Can’t help wondering why its all going wrong in the first place.

All of my issues with images have been sorted by simply UNchecking the box in media management which says to keep thumbnails proportional.
I’m gobsmacked that such a simple solution (one I have never used before, I have in the past always left that checked) should fix things. However… uploads work, images in posts work. I’ve posted my solution elsewhere, where people seem to be having the issue but so far nobody else has tried it. I’ve given up posting it (even did it as a separate post) because there have been new posts since and clearly, nobody searches (I didnt! OOPS!) It probably wont work for everyone, but it did for me 🙂 Pretty mad though.
