That might explain my problem (I am new and trying to figure out what is going on), but all of a sudden we have tonnes of activity by bots and there are using up our bandwidth (Only since January 2015) and our host said that our htcaccess file was changed.
We are getting tonnes of 404 errors.
I also turned the xmlrpc to :
Only Disable Trackbacks/Pingbacks = Your site will not be susceptible to denial of service attacks via the trackback/pingback feature. Other XMLRPC features will work as normal. You need this if you require features such as Jetpack or the WordPress Mobile app.But now my errors are all xmlrpc.php
Should I turn them to completely disable?
Any help would be so greatly appreciated as I am very stumped and this has been going on for months now with us almost maxing out our bandwidth each month.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you Viktor. I’ll try the plugin.
I’m not comfortable touching the htaccess file yet.
Thanks!
KSThank you so much Viktor.
I have contacted Timely, but haven’t received a response as of yet.I am new to WordPress, but fairly capable. Could you please enlighten me on how to do redirects?

KSHi there!
I am having the same problem with my cPanel. I am getting tonnes of errors and I’ve talked to our provider and they say that everything seems to be working properly. In my iThemes Security Logs, I keep getting tonnes of 404 errors (details isn’t working to tell me more). I try to block the IP addresses, but I am getting about 50 new IPs with 404 errors every few hours.
I am running WP 3.9.1 and iThemes Security 4.2.6.

I just didn’t know how the process of restoring might be different than starting a new site.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Change login urlHi there!
So this works?
I just create a new folder in my directory (it doesn’t need anything in it).
Then I redirect to that folder?Thank you for your posts 😀 As a newbie, they are very helpful!

To set up a second website, would I need to get a new domain name, etc?Is there a way I could restore it onto a website that does not get published (so that I don’t have to get a domain, etc), but that I could upload it and make sure everything is there.
Thank you!!!
