    Thanks, kkarpieszuk.

Before trying this, I’ve got two concerns with your suggestion.

    1) Isn’t that changing something other than just showing the header? Not sure what the code means, but I suspect that it maybe affects how the dashboard interacts (?).

And, 2) Not sure exactly how to phrase the code. “with your code (this with tags A and IMG)” is kind of confusing for me. (I’m still not very literate with the code.)

About me not helping the helpers: I did try to put the code right, but the code button on this forum didn’t let me post the code for reading only. Maybe it’s my Firefox browser (?). I don’t know. But I did try to compensate and make it as clear as possible. Which, I think it was/is.

About link to theme: True. I didn’t think about that. Here it is now.

But this isn’t my only post that has been virtually ignored. I would think it’s some recurring mistake on my part, but when I look through the list of topics, it seems that the majority of them don’t get a response.

I’m just surprised that the WP sponsored forum is so lackadaisical. Thought it would be THE place to go for help. No big deal. There are other forums, I suppose.

    Thanks for paying attention.

Any chance someone can help me with this?

I’m getting the impression that the WP forum kind of sucks. No offense intended to anyone, but I’m not getting help for a lot of my questions, and I’m noticing that a lot of posts don’t get answered.

Should I switch to Blogger or something?

    (bump)

Is the Hacks section the wrong place to ask this question?

Ahhh, I see it now. That seems strange, that it’s the background in the body. That looks like a header background to me.

    Cool. Thanks for the help!

You mean for posting here? Yea, I did. It came out as a link just the same. Thanks for the other suggestion. I’ll check it out next time I need to post code.

Any chance someone could help me here with my original question?

Sorry, the full code didn’t come out right. Here it is again:
    a href=”http://newwpthemes.com/hosting/wpwebhost.php”><img src=”http://newwpthemes.com/hosting/wpwh46.gif&#8221; />

There’s a < at the beginning of that, but I don’t know how to post the code without turning it into a link.

It was the uploads path. The Media Uploads setting was pointing to the wp_content folder on my test site, which is in a folder within the public_html folder. I changed it to the correct folder and all seems to be in order now.

Thanks for asking the right questions esmi!

Sorry, I left out a folder. The location is: /public_html/wp-content/uploads/2011/01

Under Media Settings, it’s set to default. However, the Organize My Settings into Month- and Year-Based Folders box is checked. But unticking that box doesn’t make any difference if I try uploading another image. It can be viewed in Edit Image, but still can’t be inserted into a post.

I’m having trouble finding this too. Seems strange it’s not one of the more obvious help topics out there.

Okay, so maybe that’s not the way to go …

Back to the link keesiemeijer provided, it tells me to back up the .htaccess file, and in line 10:

“If you are using Permalinks, go to the Administration > Settings > Permalinks panel and update your Permalink structure to your .htaccess file, which should be in the same directory as the main index.php file.”

But, there are no options like that in the Permalinks Panel.

I’m using the control panel at the provider’s website. Maybe I should install WP on the computer and work it from there. (?)

    Excellent. Thanks keesiemeijer.

    Next related question:

If I want to clean out the main directory before the swap, can I delete all the files and folders except for the WP directories? Or, should I keep index.htm or something like that?

    My plan was this:

    1) Delete ALL the files in the main directory, EXCEPT for the HardMonkey folder, where my test site is located.
    2) Install WP in the main directory for the site mattelmore.org. (currently WP is installed in hardmonkey.com)
    3) Transfer the files from the test site to the main directory, following the instructions in the “Read This” link above.

Does that seem like the right plan? Or are there some files/folders that I should keep for the transfer?

Maybe it will be good for general usage. But for offereing professional language services, I’ve found that automatic translators generally have a lot of errors. Though, maybe they’ve improved since I last used them.

Will definitely keep it in mind. Thanks again!

    Thanks nicoya.

But, actually, I’m pretty cool with the translation part. I’m more interested in how to manage the site and keep all the docs organized. For example, is it best to keep a separate folder for the Spanish language pages? Set up the Spanish part as a separate site? Does it make difference?

As I go along, I’d hate to make any errors that I’ll regret in the long run. That kind of stuff.

I appreciate the suggestion and will consider it for a quick translate when needed. Grats.

Awesome. It worked perfectly. Thanks, Samuel B.

Now … How do I go about controlling the order of the list tabs?

I searched for a plugin for that, but being new to this, maybe I don’t know the right keywords. (Any suggestions on achieving more autonomy will be appreciated, so as not to burden the forum with unnecessary questions!)
