In reply to: problem chaning permalink type to "pretty"OK I will see what can be done on my host site.
I don’t have the “Edit” option/button in the edit page window. All I have is “Change Permalinks” and “View Page” choices to the right of the permalink in the edit window. I can’t edit the permalink text at all – looks like it’s read only.
Thanks!!
Chris

In reply to: problem chaning permalink type to "pretty"Vincent,
When I am in Default for Permalinks, there’s no Edit option. Thought it would work, but no luck. When I am in postname it displays the correct URL (using postname) but the link doesn’t work. Maybe there is another way?

In reply to: problem chaning permalink type to "pretty"Vincent,
you are correct on the webhost. Have been with them for many, many years. I guess I could ask them to upgrade Apache?
Will try your suggestion for links.

In reply to: images not showing on pagesOK I thought that might be advisable to start a new thread.
WOW – my dashboard shows I am running 4.1 and I always keep that updated. Where does that show that I am using 3.8?
Thanks WPYogi.

In reply to: images not showing on pagesWPYogi,
I have seen and used this to the best of my ability.
The problem is that when I choose the postname option in my dashboard, and WP indicates that my changes have been saved (meaning .htaccess is good), the links are broken.
When I go back to the default the links are fine.
I have my links currently set to postname so if you visit my site, keystonearchitecture.com, you will see my problem right away.
Hope I am making sense and you can see my problem.

In reply to: images not showing on pagesVincent,
Thanks, I appreciate your help.
I have googled it and tried lots of different things but can’t quite figure out why they won’t work for my site. The only one I get to work is the default. Any other type I try I just get the 404 error.
To show you, I will change my links to postname (pretty) so that you can try to follow it yourself. Let me know what you think the problem might be.

Your Redirects
You don’t have to do any redirects, WordPress will do it for you.

In reply to: images not showing on pagesVincent,
I do not see those options under the WP Widgets. I created those under Menus. Don’t see any way to edit the links at all.
James,
I created the slider using the Customizr theme. I have the most up to date version of that, but I don’t see any way to control the slider’s background images.I am really stumped here. Clearly the link is bad but I can’t yet figure out how to edit the old website location out. Thanks for the help, I hope there is a solution somewhere,….

In reply to: images not showing on pagesHi, James.
I did try this and I do believe this is the issue. Yes I did move the site but that was nearly a year ago, and I used BSR to modify those and it edited 52 items. But I still seem to have the same issue on my site. Can you take a look and see if you see any changes to the URL’s?
Your help is much appreciated!!

In reply to: Pretty Permalinks from defaultquick thought could it be due to the location of my htaccess? it is currently with all of my WP files.
My sharepoint is on a server (Tarawa), and is a folder on that server (Keystone Architecture). Inside the folder I have two other folders – private and website. The website one is where all WP files are and the htaccess file.
I don’t have the ability to put htaccess any higher than that Keystone Architecture folder.
