I had a similar problem. I had to manually update my site but when I disabled all the plugins I was unable to log in as the default WordPress login never appeared. Put your site address in the address bar then put /wp-login.php after it. that should get you logged back in. You can try and update the Theme-My-Login plugin

Thanks esmi you for the ideas. I was going to try that but an additional problem came up when I disabled all the plugins I could not log in to the administration panel as Theme my Login when disabled currently removes any ability to log in. I was hoping it would revert to the standard wordpress login but nothing is that simple. I was unsure about doing a manual update with the plugin enabled.
