There are 2 options:

1) for YouTube, there is some code that will allow you to set a custom field that will automatically grab the thumbnail image from YouTube, and set it as the featured image.

Do a search for ‘wordpress grab youtube thumbnail’ and something should pop up.

2) manually take a screen capture and set it as the featured image.

I would like the %title to be usable in the format section

This way if I set my link to an image, I can have the post title separate…

I think the real problem I ran into was that if I wanted padding between the linked post title and my image (to look nice), I could only use nbsp, and those showed up with underlines where there were spaces (if there was a class or id, it would solve the problem as well)

I decided to just use plain text, and not hyperlinked, but I still think that %title would fit in the format section, along with author, date, etc.
