In reply to: Switched to 2013 from Responsive-lost menu & coloursMy host supplied WP for me so I have a log in on their site. I didn’t download it to my personal computer.

In reply to: Switched to 2013 from Responsive-lost menu & coloursWP is hosted at Islandnet, my intranet provider.
I set up my menu (4 times now) exactly as described in the link you provided. It worked once on the Responsive Theme but then garbled up with an edit that had nothing to do with the menu.
I’ll have a look at the links you provided to get more of the basics of websites. I’m assuming that will give me more information about the do’s and don’ts but not necessarily why I’m having so many issues.

In reply to: Switched to 2013 from Responsive-lost menu & coloursNo, the menu still isn’t sorting properly.
When my host put WP up for me to build a page, I watched tutorials on Youtube and the only themes I saw was 2012, 2013 and Responsive so that is my only experience. What is CCS? Is Suffusion and Customizr part of WP?
There is clearly something consistent going on that is crippling my menu and my text. I’m not familiar with WP but I’ve worked on a lot of software packages in my 40 years on computers and they are generally intuitive and you can usually navigate around fairly easily. WP looks that way but even with the simplest of changes that I’ve done, the results have been strange.

In reply to: Switched to 2013 from Responsive-lost menu & coloursI had a look at 2012 and the text on the pages was fixed so I have now migrated to 2012. Not my preferred choice because I can’t alter page colours.
After your last post, I have deactivated all plug in’s.

In reply to: Switched to 2013 from Responsive-lost menu & coloursI tried Firefox and I have the exact same issues. I deleted the menu, created a new one, disabled plug in’s and reactivated them and the menu is still out of order and I don’t see anywhere that I can add a background colour on my pages.

In reply to: Switched to 2013 from Responsive-lost menu & coloursThis program really doesn’t like me!!
The cache has been emptied in Safari but I don’t know how to empty the cache on my site. I assume I do that through WP? Hmmm…I wonder if Safari is the culprit and I should be using Firefox.
After I cleared the cache, I deleted the menu again plus the 2 plug in’s that I have. I made a new menu and reactivated the plug in’s and I have the same problems.
Islandnet is my host.

In reply to: Removing 'In Archive" from my pages from a deleted widgetI have added the blank text box and that took care of the page looking like it was split into two columns. Thanks for that tidbit. Don’t understand how it fixed the problem but at least it’s looking a bit better.
My current issue is that I’ve added a new page and published it. When I go to Appearance/Menus, it doesn’t show up for me to be able to select it to add to my other menu pages. I currently have 6 pages that are visible but this one won’t appear. Is there a limit to how many pages you can have? When I’m in Appearance/Menu’s, I used to see all of my pages on the left of the screen with a tick box beside them so that I could select them and put them in the order I wanted and then they would appear on the right side of my screen in the correct order. I no longer see any pages on the left of my screen.

In reply to: Removing 'In Archive" from my pages from a deleted widgetI’m using the ‘Responsive’ Template and I followed Tyler Moore’s tutorial online to clear out the content that was already there. I haven’t gotten to building the home page yet because I’m trying to get rid of these issues.
When I deleted the widget, I went to the widget page and I found the code text that I had cut and pasted into a widget text box. I merely deleted the text and as soon as I did, I got that ‘In Archive’ message.
When I go to the Appearance/Widget page, the ‘Archive’ widget isn’t even active.

In reply to: Removing 'In Archive" from my pages from a deleted widgetMy home page has been fine and it wasn’t until I deleted the code for the Facebook widget about 30 minutes ago that I got that ‘In Archive’ message.
Where that message is located is exactly where the Facebook widget was located.
