I have switched to the child theme and made the change that you suggested. Now, the tags are gone from the front home page but still show on the individual post pages. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks jessn, but I tried this plugin already.
It removes the page from ALL lists of pages, including the sidebar. I only want the page to be removed from the navbar (and to leave the listing on the sidebar).
Also, it left the space where the page had been located on the navbar instead of removing it altogether.
