[ sorry for triple posting. ]

Here is what my index.php looks like.
I want to exclude categories 1,3,5,and 7.

Is this right?

So, the .htaccess is a file?
Is it the index.php file?
I’m not sure I understand how to find the .htaccess.

Okay, I will try that, but first..
Once I change the custom permalink to, say, numeric.. it tells me “You should update your .htaccess now.”
I feel silly asking this, but what exactly is it telling me to do? Could that be breaking my links?
