Hi,
we were thinking about adding this functionality but decided against it for now because it gets a bit complicated when you try to resize those images for thumbnails(150x150px).It’s definitely doable but hard to maintain with different versions of WordPress.
Hi boolan,
sorry for the late response.
I think this is what you’re looking for:.related_post_title { clear: both; padding: 0 !important; margin: 0 !important; } ul.related_post { display: block; position: relative; margin: 0 !important; padding: 0 !important; } ul.related_post li { display: inline-block; vertical-align: top; zoom: 1; *display: inline; width: 160px; margin: 10px 20px 10px 0px !important; padding: 0 !important; background: none; } ul.related_post li a:nth-child(1) { height: 100px; overflow: hidden; border: 1px solid #ddd; } ul.related_post li a { display: block; font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; padding: 3px 0 5px 0; text-decoration: none; } ul.related_post li a:hover { text-decoration: underline; } ul.related_post li img { display: block; width: 160px !important; height: 160px !important; margin-top: -30px; max-width: 100%; } ul.related_post li small { font-size: 80%; }Best, Jure
For now we’re only supporting images uploaded with WordPress’s media dialog and featured images.
This might change in the future, but I can’t make any promises.I’ll add you’re case to our TODO list and mark this thread as resolved for now.
Best, Jure
Hi,
our plugin is using WordPress’s featured image if it can find one. Otherwise it takes the first image in the post.So if you want to make sure we’ll display the image you want, set the featured image.
Hope this helps.
Best, Jure
We removed GA from settings page and made all external services opt-in.
@brainman pageview.js is used for measuring statistics displayed in plugin’s settings page. We changed the option for enabling statistics from opt-out to opt-in in the last version of the plugin(1.5.2). Same with the external css files.
I think I can mark this thread as resolved.
Hi,
the new version of the plugin supports custom css. Go to plugin’s settings page and select custom under themes.If you’re using thumbnails, you’ll probably want to start with something like this:
.related_post_title { clear: both; padding: 0 !important; margin: 0 !important; } ul.related_post { display: block; position: relative; margin: 0; padding: 0; } ul.related_post li { display: inline-block; vertical-align: top; zoom: 1; *display: inline; width: 100px; margin: 10px 10px 10px 0px; padding: 0; background: none; } ul.related_post li a { display: block; font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-decoration: none; padding-bottom: 5px; } ul.related_post li img { display: block; width: 100px !important; height: 100px !important; } ul.related_post li small { font-size: 80%; }Best, Jure
Hi, we just released a new version of the plugin that doesn’t add titles any more.
Thanks for the feedback.
Hi,
we just released a new version of the plugin that supports custom styles(css). Go to settings and select custom under themes.If you want to modify vertical-m style, you can start with our css:
.related_post_title { clear: both; padding: 0 !important; margin: 0 !important; } ul.related_post { display: block; position: relative; margin: 0; padding: 0; } ul.related_post li { display: inline-block; vertical-align: top; zoom: 1; *display: inline; width: 100px; margin: 10px 10px 10px 0px; padding: 0; background: none; } ul.related_post li a { display: block; font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-decoration: none; padding-bottom: 5px; } ul.related_post li img { display: block; width: 100px !important; height: 100px !important; } ul.related_post li small { font-size: 80%; }If you want to add round corners to thumbnails, add:
border-radius: 15px;
toul.related_post li img {block.Hope this helps.
Hi,
for inserting related posts to a custom position, check this support ticket
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wordpress-related-posts-insert-manually
and regarding your first question, I’ll try to add this option to the next version of the plugin tomorrow. The new version won’t be released for another week or so, but I can send you a dev version if you’re willing to be a “lab rat” (I’ll post an update here when it’ll be ready for testing).Best, Jure

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] [Plugin: WordPress Related Posts] IssuesSure, you can find older version in developers tab
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-23-related-posts-plugin/developers/Since we don’t like breaking our plugin, can you please elaborate on the issue, so we can fix it in the next version?
Thanks.

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] [Plugin: WordPress Related Posts] insert manuallyHi,
you can add
<?php wp_related_posts()?>
to your single post template.We should probably document this somewhere π

Hi,
sadly no. But since this sounds like a very good idea we’ll definitely consider adding it to the future versions of the plugin.
Thanks for the feedback.

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] [Plugin: WordPress Related Posts] Fatal ErrorHi,
The function related_posts_exist is defined in YARP and it has nothing to do with our plugin. If you were using YARP before, please check if this function call is still in your template.
If this doesn’t solve your problem, please post the issue to the YARP’s plugin page.

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] [Plugin: WordPress Related Posts] No Related PostsHi, I can’t find any apparent reason why the new version would behave differently.
I fixed some theoretically problematic parts, but I’m not very optimistic.
Can you please download and and try the new version again (I didn’t bump the version so please update manually) just in case I caught the problematic part.
If that doesn’t solve the problem I’d very much appreciate any info about your settings. Screenshot would be very helpful, but if you manage your own server, the result of this mysql query would help me even more:
select * from wp_options where option_name=’wp_rp’;
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks.
