In reply to: Avoiding certain types of commentsThe trackbacks are still being added to my blog – the same one in fact – it’s almost as if it’s embedded in the code somewhere.

In reply to: Avoiding certain types of commentsThank haochi, but this was already unchecked and the trackbacks were still happening. I have gone ahead and added a plugin called wp-spamfree and disabled trackbacks via their program. I haven’t gotten any trackbacks so far.
Do you think that our blog popularity will suffer due to not having trackbacks or does this not have a downside.

In reply to: Disabling comments without having them wait in moderationThey’re being held in moderation – so they are coming in despite my having turned off comments – the comments don’t appear in the actual blog entries – they’re just being held in our queue of comments to approve/disapprove.
At any rate – we have re-enabled comments now, after having done some anti-spam plugins and we have no spam, but a new type of problem where now the types of comments are not really reactions of people to our articles, but rather a report of how some site mentions our article and takes an excerpt of this article.
Here is an example: http://www.makemeheal.com/news/miley-cyruss-plastic-surgery-future/373#comment-3
Is this a trackback or a ping – i’m not a techie, just trying to have regular comments of people – not some useless report of a website mentioning our website.
