Thanks for your help Michael, bringing my attention to single.php has helped me resolve not only this issue but a couple of others too.

as you can see i’m a complete novice 🙂

Sure thing monkeybrain, as you can see I styled my first post assuming all subsequent posts would pick up the styling obviously they won’t because they will have different <div>#id’.
I’m guessing the solution to my problem lies somewhere in the CSS selector but cant find it.
any advice would be appreciated.
