I was already usig a child theme for some custom CSS. I ended up using the english translations file to rewrite the placeholder text and placed it into the child theme with an added line in the child themes functions.php. Maybe you know a better way to do this, but this was something i found while searching the udesign support forums that the authors of the theme recommended.
I should have clarified, I am using the product search widget in the top social media widget area of the udesign theme. If I change between certain pages sometimes it will flash product search. It then go back to “type here to search”. This is on an internal only development website. You can try accessing it at http://jonesoilco.dyndns.org:8081. I will open it to outside access for a while.
