Thanks for going the extra mile and checking directly with Stripe’s Platform Manager — that’s a definitive answer and I appreciate the effort.
It’s a shame it’s not possible yet, because the use case is genuinely compelling for EU merchants. Currency conversion losses on PayPal transactions are a real and ongoing cost, especially for stores in non-EUR countries.
I did receive conflicting information from a Stripe support agent who confirmed it was possible, so there may be some internal inconsistency on their end — or this could be something they’re actively working on enabling.
Would you be open to keeping this on your roadmap so that if Stripe does open up PayPal for direct charges in the future, you’d be positioned to implement it quickly? Given your existing Stripe infrastructure, it would likely be a relatively small addition at that point.
