Thanks for the suggestion,but I installed the plugin and tried it. The files transfered alright, but they didn’t appear in the media library. Other posts suggest that it doesn’t work with 4.0 I’m nearly at the point of abandoning WordPress entirely. I’ve lost an entire week trying to solve this problem.
