    James,

Thanks for your reply. Like I mentioned before I am new to WordPress and while I am filling the gaps of my lack of knowledge I don’t yet understand your answer. That said I think you are sending me to a solution that would help educate me, which again I appreciate, however my learning curve is slow and while I do that if you or anybody else can offer help I would be grateful.

Our site has a custom template and from what I can read I have to point front-page.php to that. I will try but I am pretty lost. As far as I can see the homepage setting are fine but I could be missing something. http://www.yptaa.com.au is not loading whereas yptaa.com.au/home-page is.

It sounds like you’ve created a wordpress account for yourself, and you have created a site under a preferred name, but that you have not published the site, and perhaps this is why you are getting to choose it a second time. WordPress.com and wordpress.org are two different things. WordPress.com should be able to provide you with support for your problem as they can see what is going on on their end, and advise you accordingly. They have live chat etc. If I were you I would start there as they can see what is going on.

Steve, (above) mentioned that wordpress.com are a hosting company and they are, they host and allow you to build wordpress sites through their software, whereas wordpress.org, provide both the software and community support to help site builders. There are pro’s and cons to both. With WordPress.com your url and site will always be an extension of wordpress.com’s site and… it will never be owned by you. Yup, your wordpress.com hosted site will never be owned by you, that’s how it works, but they have advantages for people who are not too fussed about business name identity.

    I hope that helped.
