In reply to: [Gutenberg] Gutenberg – HTML CommentsIt turns out that the solution is to wrap the entire page (or portion) with the tags <!– wp:core/text –> <!– /wp:core/text –>. This will prevent the insertion of any extra tags in wrapped code.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Gutenberg – HTML CommentsBut it wasn’t enough to deactivate it here. Even when it was deactivated and the “Classic Editor” was installed, pages were improperly formatted. I had to actually delete the Gutenberg plugin. So my question is: When Gutenberg is part of the WordPress core in 5.0, will it disrupt formatting even when deactivated?

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Gutenberg – HTML CommentsAs I said above, I could not fix the layout problem until I deleted the Gutenberg plugin. When Gutenberg becomes mandatory, will I be able to delete it?

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Gutenberg – HTML CommentsI actually had to do two things: install the “Classic Editor” plugin AND delete the “Gutenberg” plugin. With those changes everything went back to normal.
How am I to handle this if Gutenberg becomes mandatory on WordPress Release 5.0?

In reply to: JetPack: Sharing works for all but LinkedInI deleted and reinstalled JetPack, but that did not fix the problem

In reply to: JetPack: Sharing works for all but LinkedInAfter some experimenting, I can create a new button for LinkedIn, but I need a proper URL address. At the moment, the new button opens LinkedIn, but gives an error message. That suggests that the standard LinkedIn button is corrupted. I will try a re-install of JetPack.
Thanks for that. That’s very helpful
perhaps a hint on where the the loading of JS code is or should be located
the problem apparently is with a page.php file that I have in my child theme. If I turn that off the problem goes away. That makes sense since the problem only arises with pages. I think I have now narrowed it down enough that I can probably figure it out. You are probably right that the JS code is not getting loaded. I will consider this resolved for now. Thanks for the suggestions.
experience is the same in Chrome and iExplorer and the same whether or not I am logged WP-Admin.
tried it with all plugins except Jetpack disabled — same problem.
BTW the following URL appears in the page address window at the top:
http://www.us-covered-bonds.com/useful-links/?shared=email&msg=failThat was because I lost the style sheet under Edit CSS. Now recovered from a previous version.
will now try disabling all plugins.
With Twenty Fourteen I couldn’t see the left 2 inches or so of the screen. In Twenty Thirteen, the buttons work as they should.
In going back to Twenty Eleven Child, something is amiss as one title bar common on most pages is three times its normal height. I will now try to solve that.Have not tried it yet with other plugins disabled.
Disable CSS/JS option is unchecked. Note that it works on Posts, but not on Pages.
Can try with another theme like Twenty Fourteen and let you know.
I will also try with other plugins disabled.
