In reply to: Dreaded failed admin login problem w/new installatIt *looks* like I have solved it. AFAIK the problem seems to be with the password storage features of the various browsers that I have been using (Mozilla, Firefox [basically the same browser core] and Konqueror). All of these browsers try to store a password on the browser so that you don’t have to use it when logging in to a specific web site. If I choose either “store the password” or “don’t store the password”, I can’t log in. But if I choose “never store the password for this site” then I can log in successfully. Wierd.
Thanks for all of your help folks, I appreciate it. WordPress is a great program.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Dreaded failed admin login problem w/new installatVery good idea! Unfortunately, it fails the same way. I deleted the old php tables and did a fresh install of wordpress-2004-07-14.tar. The admin login still cycles back to the admin login. *sigh*

In reply to: Dreaded failed admin login problem w/new installatThis is an intranet running on Linux. Apache and PHP are running on RedHat 9. My browser is running on a laptop with Mandrake 10.
The system is not using https. (But just for kicks, I did make the https modifications that others have suggested. They didn’t help.)
As for the passwords, I tried it both ways. I verified that the md5 of the admin password that WordPress provides is correct. But then I actually changed the admin password directly to something else. Unfortunately neither thing worked.
I’ve tried logging in using Firefox 9, Mozilla 1.6 and Konqueror 3.2 (the kde browser). They all do the same thing.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Dreaded failed admin login problem w/new installatI should add that the failure seems to be a consistent and unavoidable redirect back to the login page whenever I try to log in. I’ve verified that this is NOT due to a mismatch between the database and admin passwords.
