  • Unfortunately when I moved things into a child theme the plugin broke. Drat. I hate it when that happens.

So instead I put the html code for the menu directly into my modified header.php. At first I tried to make it readable by putting each menu item on a separate line … and wound up having exactly the same results as I was seeing before, with an extra pixel between each image. When I combined it all onto a single line, it removed. Yay! So my guess is that the plugin might have also been producing some white space.

On the one hand I’m just as happy not to have an extra plugin involved. On the other hand it’ll be a pain to be manually editing the code if the menu changes … but hopefully that won’t happen too often. So for now, I’m saying “good enough” 🙂

    Thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks esmi and WPyogi for the feedback — I’m Garrett’s collaborator on the project. My bad for not setting it up as a child theme; I’ll clean it up.
