In reply to: Updgrading Self Hosted Site to 3,1 re: wp-content directoryThanks. It shows I’m running 2.5.1 so I only have to go through three upgrades as I understand what you’ve both told me. I appreciate all the help.

In reply to: Updgrading Self Hosted Site to 3,1 re: wp-content directoryI suppose I’ll end up doing in myself. The site with earlier versions says all are dangerous to use aside from the first one. Does this matter to me.
And, most importantly, how do I figure out which version I am currently running? Thanks. Sorry to be such a pain.

In reply to: Updgrading Self Hosted Site to 3,1 re: wp-content directoryOne last question: If I try this myself, where do I go to find the earlier upgrades? Only 3.1 is linked from my dashboard.

In reply to: Updgrading Self Hosted Site to 3,1 re: wp-content directoryAck! Are there services or people who do this sort of this for a fee? This sounds scary.

In reply to: Updgrading Self Hosted Site to 3,1 re: wp-content directoryA very early version, 2.3 or something like that (is there I place I can find out). And yes, maintaining current content is important.
Thanks a lot.

In reply to: Blogroll Does Not AppearI finally got it back by taking everything else in the side columns out and then adding them back one by one. Thanks for the response.

In reply to: Password Issues with WP-configNo, this about a blog I run on my own website. I assume the profile links to the one on WordPress itself. For some other odd reason, while I an access my dashboard from WordPress and log on to administer my site, when I use my name and password to try and access the forums, it is not recognized, so I log in with this one. The dashboard of the affected site is also accessible from the dashboard of the site now on WordPress as well.
Just to be clear: I set up a new user name and password for the database by editing the wp-config file and that will solve the issue?

In reply to: Password Issues with WP-configThank you (and sorry to be so inept at this), but that document doesn’t answer my need. I need to change my wp-config file correctly (as indicated in the document when moving the blog with the same domain to a new server). The old config had the ID that I use to FTP into my own site, where I host my blog, so I changed the new one to the FTP ID for the new site. The old one had a password made up of random letters et al (which I did not create). I tried using that password. I tried using the actual password for the new domain location. I tried using my old password for the domain which worked. I tried using my ID and password to log into my blog itself. In none of those instances did the blog do anything but post an error message suggesting that there was a problem with the config file in lieu of the home page. I am stymied.
PS: Unless I am now thoroughly confused (I’ve done all this stuff over and over, back and forth), the only ID that allows me to access the cpanel for the new server is the one I use for FTPing. Don’t know of if that tells you anything or not.
