Okay I figured it out. The problem was an assumption on my part. I thought the email of the account linked to Post By Email, that we send the message TO had to be a user with admin / posting priv. But what I found out was that it actually is the email of the person sending the message to the dedicated email account linked with Post By Email, have posting priv.
I hope this clarifies this for others who think llke me.

The last one I did under my superadmin account and it matched my email but still posted it at pending. The other account the emails matched as well and that account is set at admin.
The email is being sent by gmail if that matters? if you’d like I can message you with login info so you can look.

I am having a similar problem. I created a user with admin privileges, but when the email comes in Email by Post keeps it as pending. I also have tried it from my superadmin email and it always posts as pending needs review.
