Well, I was hoping to use the SEO pack to eliminate a duplicate title tag issue that keeps turning up in my Google Webmaster Dashboard, but now I realize I can’t since my site is on Dreamhost. By the way, they have provided great service for me, and I have no complaints. However, I couldn’t get the Ask Apache password protect to work on my site either, and that was even after getting one of their tech support people to try to get it working as well. So, I guess I can’t use the all in one seo to resolve my duplicate title tag issue! As they say, back to the drawing board! 🙁

If this additional information is of any help for someone to provide me with a resolve, I wanted to add that about a month ago I also tried the Ask Apache plugin, which wouldn’t work on my site. My host even got involved with attempting to get that plugin to work, but was unsuccessful. He couldn’t figure out why (or couldn’t dedicate the time to).

Looking again at the code that I’m trying to add to the wp-admin htaccess file, (shown above) am I supposed to add a line that permits my ip or something? Or, was I suppose to create some sort of a password for it? Still trying to figure out why it causes me to get redirected to the front end of my site and kicks me out of my admin panel, and also not allowing me to login when I add the codes to the file. Thanks again.

That’s one of the biggest challenges with using Blogger. When you run into an issue, support is just not there!

Before I tried it this time I logged out of my admin panel, and cleared my browser cache. Then I added the codes back into the wp admin htaccess file. When I try to login to my dashboard it takes me to the front of my site instead, so I still can’t get it to work, and can’t figure out why it would redirect me to the front of my site?

Thanks for the compliment. 🙂 Yes, blogging does take a ton of time. My issues are trying to resolve a permalink/database issue, and an htaccess file issue.

By the way, don’t forget to change the status of your thread here to [resolved] so they know.

Plus, in your profile your interest of ‘rapture’ is an interest we have in common, but you also need to fix your home page url in your profile here – it’s a dead link. 😮

You are so nice to try to help me. Thank you. Truthfully, I am starting to feel guilty about it. LOL

No need to feel guilty about it. I figure if I can lend a hand to someone here, perhaps I’ll reap what I sow and get some of my issues resolved by someones help too. Plus, learn something new along the way.

Is your avatar an avatar of Mary Ann from Gilligans Island? Hehe

Lol – haven’t had that one yet! No, it’s my actual mug shot – lol.

Good to hear you’re issue is resolved! Cache can cause some issues, as it has for me in the past, so that was why I thought earlier to suggest disabling your cache if you were to deactivate and reactivate any widgets you had. But, it never occurred to me that perhaps it would have been a cache plugin causing your problem.

Actually, esmi was the one that provided you with the answer in regards to a plugin potentially being the problem. Okay, one less problem for someone now that you have your issue resolved. Now I need to figure out how to resolve the issues with my blog. Been stuck on some issues for several months now and it’s getting old – lol. You asked, “What is your blog?” well to answer that I currently have 4 blogs, but my WordPress blog is linkandblog. It’s a dot com. (Don’t want to spam the post here – lol).

The chmod is currently 644. Can anyone tell me if that’s possibly the issue as to why the htaccess code didn’t work? It caused me to get redirected from my admin panel to the front end when I tried to access something in the admin dashboard. Thanks again, to whoever can help me with this!

Are you using a tag plugin of some sort? Or, did you in prior versions, before you did an upgrade? As esmi mentioned above in the 4th post, you could possibly be experiencing an issue with some codes still in your database, from like a prior plugin, creating a conflict.

Not sure how the tags are appearing on your front end without using tag widgets, or is that part of your template? In that you’re not using a tag widget, have you thought about trying that to see if it resolves the issue? If you added tag cloud codes into a java-script html widget, rather than using one of the tag widgets, perhaps that’s causing a conflict. Other than that, I’m running out of ideas for you. 😮

You might try the plug-in authors site for help if you aren’t able to find the answer here.

By the way I was not trying to shoot down your suggestion. It was good advice. And thanks for this help!

    Hi 4everblu,
I didn’t think you were trying to shoot it down – lol. The only other thing I could think of is maybe it might have to do with the widget locations on your site. On your home page I saw the widget tags up at the top, and on the permalink you provided here, the tags were in a widget down below.

You might want to try and see if deactivating both the tag widgets and then reactivating them again might do the trick. When I did a theme change, a prior theme had a challenge with the categories widget, and for whatever reason I had to deactivate the widget, save the change, (moved it out of the active widget area) and then I reactivated it. Not sure if that would make a difference or not for the challenge you’re having. If you try that, disable your site cache (wp super cache, if you’re using it) from the admin panel first. Then deactivate and reactivate the tag widget and see what happens. Then don’t forget to reactivate your cache program.

Hope you find a resolve soon.

EDIT: It could possibly be a challenge with the theme, along with the combination of having the widget in two different locations. You might not be able to use the widget in two different locations. Dunno – just a wild guess on my part.

    Thanks 4everblu,
Before I install the seo pack I’m also trying to resolve some permalink issues, which I wrote about in a prior forum post, but have yet to resolve. Hoping to get the challenges with my permalink structure resolved soon, so I can feel okay about adding another plugin.

For 2.9.1 I don’t know where it is in the files, or if editing it is even recommended – that is if WP still has a tag limit to it in 2.9.1 as they did in prior versions.

Although it would take some time, it may be easier to consolidate some of your tag names. Looking at your site it could be confusing for your readers because you have so many tags that seem to be similar. It may be better to re-analyze your tag names and do a consolidation.

For example, you have Golfr20 in there quite a few times. Your tags are repetitious, so you could consider doing a consolidation. Just a suggestion, and that would allow you to also determine if a tag limit is the cause to your problem.

It may be because you have exceeded the total limit of tags allowed in the WP files (assuming they still have a total tag limit with 2.9.1) Take a look at this forum thread.

Just thought perhaps the problem is with the permissions? If that’s the possibility, what are the chmod codes for the htaccess in wp-admin.

If you just set up the redirect, it may take some time to have it take. That’s the same sort of redirect message a person gets when redirecting from a blogspot url to their own domain redirected if you had used Blogger, rather than WordPress.

The redirect message shows up sometimes for about a day until the change is completed with Blogger. So, if you just set up the redirect, you maybe just need to wait a bit until it works properly – possibly an entire day. Otherwise, as esmi suggested they might be able to assist you over at the blogger forum.
