The problem has been resolved
Thank you for taking the time to help with this. Mine is also working now.
No there are no widgets anywhere else. I added widgets to the right sidebar and the tabbed bar disappeared. I am now using the right sidebar only as this one seems to work properly.
I already have other widgets in the tabbed sidebar, but the pages and tags still show
