It looks it checks the qTranslate plugin installation with the qtrans_init() funktion:
function have_qtranslate() {
return (function_exists( 'qtrans_init'));
}
Is this not available in qTranslateX?

Yes, with this I got my own language switcher in the theme back (no graphics just “english / Deutsch” in the top-bar.
But not the multilanguage option within knews.
