Thank you for such a quick response. I did get the site working back to normal, for anyone else who may have this issue what fixed it for me was downloading the updated Word Press file and manually uploading the files via FTP as stated above.
– Changing the theme back to the default one did not work for my issue.
– Disabling/Re-enabling plugins did not work for my issue.
