This isn’t really an issue related to the FB comments plugin. You need to define an og:image meta tag in your header so facebook knows which image to pick up when someone comments or likes it.

Same here… the recent comments widget in the dashboard shows no comments but there are hundreds listed on the facebook admin tool.
