    I found another plugin here:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bind-user-to-cat/.

Bind-user-to-cat binds each user to a specified category. It works great. A user can post to only one category. When he goes into Manage, he sees all posts but can edit only the ones in his category. 🙂 And everyone is able to view all posts.

    Try it, you’ll like it!

Thank you for that info. I installed the plugin but I can’t get it to do exactly what I want. I want to restrict the writing of posts only. Each user can post to and manage one category only, but everyone can view all posts. If I give a user access to one category, then once he/she has logged in, he/she can see only posts in that category.

I need to be able to assign separate permissions for viewing and writing posts.

    Any other ideas?
