I’ve tried the Capability Manager Enhanced (current version at this moment) as you have mentioned and the result show no changes in the list of the membership labels.
I used wordpress 3.8.1

Hi James,
I have tried to register at your website as you’ve mentioned in the latest post, without success.
After filling all data and answer the math question. The pages indicated to wait for 10 seconds and it goes off and stay in the same register page. The only error message is “login failed, try another”.
I wished that I can register to report a problem(challenging?) directly on your website, but can’t.
