In reply to: Pings Not Working?“Manually ping”? I thought pingback is always done by the publishing software automatically parsing the linked blogs for a XML-RPC entry. How do you “manually ping” in WP? Or do you mean “manually perform a trackback” by that?

In reply to: Pings Not Working?Same problem here. I downloaded WP 1.5 less than a week ago (after 2005-04-15) and my situation is:
– outgoing pingback (auto) does NOT work (tested with different WP and MT blogs)
– outgoing trackback (manual) does work
– incoming pingback and trackback both workSince pingback is supposed to work fully automated, I can’t tell if my WP even *tried* to do the pingbacks, or, if it didn’t due to some config errors.

In reply to: Pingback confusionHmm, I’m not sure of my assumption above any more. I turned off pingbacks by default, and it still takes more than 10 seconds to save a post. Maybe it’s the Markdown filter that needs so much time.

In reply to: Pingback confusionIs there a way to log/debug the outgoing pingbacks? I know my WP (1.5) is tries to send them since it takes really long to save/publish the post, but I don’t see my post appearing as comment on any blog I link to, even though they’re all WP or MT based. I wonder how I can make sure if the pingbacks failed to be sent or if the other blogs just chose not to show my post in their comment section.

In reply to: I want the option of not using pingbackYeah I’m not seeing this so called checkbox either, I see it being mentioned in Help/Wiki, but not on my “Write Post” page (I’ve got “show advanced editing” on by default).
