Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Login Password not workingYeah, I’ve tried via different browsers with the same results, I’ve deactivated all the plugins and I still get the same results. The site opens but gives me a 404 error and nothing else is available on the site to view as a regular visitor. So I’m not sure what’s going on there. I think my best bet now is to just remove the previous installation of WordPress, delete the database and start from scratch, and then upload the wp-content folder and that should get mostly everything back to a working state.
I don’t think it has been hacked because as far as I’ve been told as soon as they migrated the files over the developer couldn’t log into the WP dashboard either and then he flat-out ignored the client and they haven’t been able to get a hold of him since. This just leads me to believe he has no idea what he’s done or how to fix it.
It’s the strangest thing, I’ve never come across an issue like this before so I’m not sure what the previous developer did to break the site this badly.

In reply to: Login Password not workingHi,
Thank you for the reply.
Yes, the backup is there and I’ve restored the backups and it gives me the same issue. Looking in the file manager all the files for the WordPress installation are there, I don’t see anything out of the ordinary missing.
The host really hasn’t been any help, they just say, and I quote, “I’ve read the past emails, not entirely sure what we need to do” so that doesn’t help me in the slightest.
I’m not too worried about the login using up the three tries, I can just clear out the browser cookies and I can try again.
Its a very strange issue that I’ve never seen before, but setting up the site again locally I have no issues getting into the site and It accepts the password and everything functions as it should.
