In reply to: Pages not loading unless I deactivate the Sociable plugin. Thanks for the input Steve which is much appreciated.
I wonder if it is the SEO plugin. I know about Thesis but I like the presentation and was reluctant to update the theme in case the appearance of the website was radically changed.
I’m thinking it probably makes sense for me to hire a company like Blue Sky, recommended by Bluehost, to manage my site and get it updated all round.

In reply to: Pages not loading unless I deactivate the Sociable plugin.Thank you Steve. I will check these out. I wonder what was providing me with the visitor info up until the beginning of September. I obtained the info by clicking on Who’s Been Online on the top left of the Dashboard. It was giving me the time, page viewed, and a code which, when I clicked on it, gave me details of the viewer’s location.

In reply to: Pages not loading unless I deactivate the Sociable plugin.Hi Steve, Thank you for the social plugin recommendations. With respect to visitors, I thought the recording was part of the original set up. The only plugin I have that comes close is Google XML Sitemaps. I have version 4.1.0.

In reply to: Pages not loading unless I deactivate the Sociable plugin.Thank you Steve. I have disabled it and wonder if I need a Sociable-type plugin. If I do, is there one that you would recommend?
Also, do you have any idea why my site is still not recording visitors properly except perhaps the one or two daily from China/Ukraine? This is worrying.

In reply to: Adding a disclaimer.Thank you for this. I have installed the Thesis Open Hook plugin but I don’t know CSS. Also, it seems I may have to change the name of my custom-sample folder to custom but I don’t know where to find the folder.

In reply to: Adding a disclaimer.I entered the disclaimer script in the footer box for Thesis options but the text appeared very large at the base of my blog page. I need to find a way to match it to the Admin script at the base of the page.

In reply to: Managing PhotosI think I have finally figured it out. I have tried several different resizings before loading and have also centered the photo so that the Sociable icons and comment text appear beneath the photo and not beside it. It seems that 61-62kb photo size works best for my column width. Thanks for all your help.

In reply to: Managing PhotosThe lowest resolution on my current postcard-size photo is 177kb. If I choose either large or full size, it is too big for the blog unless I had no sidebar, which I need. Large and full size are very similar whereas the medium dimensions are too small.

In reply to: Managing PhotosSo, should I start out with a much larger file or could WordPress increase the number of options for photo size? Currently there are four options but there is a large gap between the sizes of Medium and Large.

In reply to: Managing PhotosI doubled the height and doubled the width measurements.

In reply to: Managing PhotosI have now found a way to alter the dimensions of the photo on the blog by changing the numbers in the html. That results in a larger blurred photo on the blog but when you click on it a larger and sharper version appears on a separate page. How could I get a sharper version to appear on my blog page?

In reply to: Managing PhotosThanks.
I have tried loading photos of different file size but their physical dimensions on the blog are the same. I need to find a way to adjust their dimensions to better fit the blog column just as you can adjust the size of embedded videos. I have tried altering the numbers in the html but that resulted in a blank page.

In reply to: Twitter Tools not updatingI upgraded to WP 2.8.5 and then installed Twitter Tools. So far, it’s working, feeding tweets to my blog.
