In our circumstances, we were using a blank master site to manage users (because why would we manage users from one of our client sites?). On the blank master site, nobody has any content attributed to them because it’s essentially just a management console.

Ultimately this issue meant than when we removed a key member of the team who no longer works with us we ended up significantly breaking almost 100 websites! Thankfully we were able to restore a backup.

Incidentally, I also had to set some of the PHP parameters to insane levels in order to get the changes to push through to all of the slave sites. Maybe this isn’t avoidable but it was worth mentioning for you – perhaps it would be better to batch process

Ultimately I think this plugin could work well if you have used it from the start but if you have an established network of sites, it would seem that bringing in the plugin at this stage leaves too many things to chance such as variations in usernames and content attribution issues.
