Just the usual “Error establishing a database” on a white page. Nothing else.

I have noticed that I seem to have two versions of MAMP in my Applications folder, but only one of those has the WordPress files. The other seems to have a date after it (not at my computer at the moment) if I remember correctly.

I had considered trashing all copies of MAMP and WordPress and starting with a fresh install and then seeing if I could Import a backup if the database, but that seems like a bit more work than it should be and may not solve the problem. It would however give me a clean start to build it again but that’s a lot of wasted hours.
