Thanks for the replies, this was a real strange one but all is ok now.
I updated Akismet and lost all the content over the site, I tried clearing browsers cache and all the normal things but it made no difference.
I then deleted the plugin as it was not being used and the content would still not appear, then over the next 2 hours, a page at a time came back, and now all is there, very strange but all seams ok now.
