    Heather,

I deactivated all the plugins and now, the problem with the widgets is solved. They are moving, the way I want them.

Try to do the same, maybe you have some conflicting plugins or the plugins simply have to be inactive, in order for us to move them.

    Hope this helps…

P.S. I also installed Gears, can this affect the ability to move widgets? They show like they are movable, when I hover over them but they cannot be moved either from an area to another or within the sidebar, to change their order. Same happens in IE but there, the drag-and-drop also selects everything, on the page.

    Again, I’d appreciate some help.

PS. I cannot blame it on the server to be down either, because I tried installing another script with a new database, to see if it’s working and it it worked, for that one… same, with PHP 5, that I’m usually using.

Thank you for your reply. The fact is that I enter the correct database name, username, password and host on the wp-config file. I even tried deleting and uploading again, all the files, twice, I created a new database, even entered the port number, once… I cleaned the browser cache, temp files, restarted the computer (just in case)… and it’s still not working!

I installed WP before, on several hosts… even on 1and1, for one of my customers… It worked every single time…

I cannot figure out why it isn’t working now. Any other ideas, please? I really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks but this is not what I asked for. I had the database info to enter in the config.php file. As I said, I entered it correctly… Even 1and1 has a help file on installing WP and I did nothing different than what they say… but it’s still not working!

When I run the install file, WP cannot establish a connection to the database.

Is there a port I should add after the database host?
